Hillsborough River State Park Preservation Society, Inc. is a volunteer Citizen Support Organization (CSO), which is also a nonprofit 501(c)3 that was founded in 1993. It was formed to generate public awareness, education, and financial support for the preservation and maintenance of the Hillsborough River State Park and the Fort Foster State Historic Site.
Like Florida State Parks, the Hillsborough River State Park and the Fort Foster State Historic Site have programs and needs which reach beyond the state’s ability to provide funding and support. This is where the Preservation Society comes in, by generating additional support for the park in the form of fundraising, supplemental staffing, equipment, etc., we are aiding the park in the fulfillment of its mission.
This mission, as set forth by the Florida Park Service, is to provide resource-based recreation while preserving, interpreting and restoring natural, cultural and historical resources. The park currently provides resource-based recreation through exhibits, educational programs and activities, and special events, as well as many other valuable visitor services.
Joining our CSO is a great way to help the park, interact with members from our community who have a passion for the outdoors, Florida State Parks, Historic Sites and so much more!
Join the CSO, we can’t do it without you!
