Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm

Swamp Stomp Mud RunWe began our Swamp Stomp races in 2016 and we continue to seek out new and exciting obstacles and "Swamp Swag" to keep our Stompers coming back.  Over our last three races we have accumulated some pretty cool swag and rather than let cool stuff go to waste, why not have a "leftover race"?

Any and all leftover t-shirts and medals will be distributed at this race. This will be a great opportunity to collect a previous Swamp Stomp medal that you missed or really love!  (Although you have the option to select your t-shirt size, we cannot guarantee we have an ample stock of that size.  We will do our best to match your needs.)

Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup @ Hillsborough River State Park

SAT SEP 16

Time: 8:30am - 12:00pm EDT

On September 16th, the Department of Environmental Protection’s Hillsborough River State Park will be participating in the 30th Annual Hillsborough River and Coastal Cleanup event.  Volunteers are needed to assist in the cleanup of debris from the river and our trails that follow the river.  Volunteers that wish to canoe/kayak along the river to collect debris will need to bring their own canoe, life jacket, and oars; or they may be rented from our concession.

Please register prior to the event.

Unlike a typical litter removal event, the annual Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup offers the opportunity for volunteers to engage in vital international research activities by taking on the role of “Scientist for a Day.”

With a specific focus on water-based natural resource protection and activism, volunteers collect items and record the data to identify the number and type of littered items, the overall tonnage of debris removed from each site and the amount of recyclable materials diverted from ending up in our landfills. This information is used to determine future requirements for cleanup initiatives, assess projects that are needed in the area and develop awareness of these needs within the local communities who share these waterways. Data is shared with Keep America Beautiful, the Ocean Conservancy as well as local officials to help provide a local and global perspective.

Additional Information:

Work clothes and shoes are required. Water, sunscreen and bug spray are suggested.

No fees for volunteers.  All volunteers will be required to complete a Florida Park Service Volunteer Application upon arrival.
